Friday

Good afternoon,

Sorry for the delay in this post, I was a little under the weather. Thankfully Rachel was able to step up to help out!

Then the children learnt how to draw Philip (our back up mascot!)...

...and trotted off to Assembly.

Though there was the small matter of lunch in between.

Speaking of food, 'twas a lovely evening on Thursday night for some Fish-'n-Chips-@-School.

I would respectfully suggest that a good time was had by all.

Sunny Thursday

Good afternoon,

And what a lovely evening for the Family Fun Night.

This afternoon we were trying to get some ideas down on paper as to what we could do that would emulate what we saw in Chicken Run. Specifically...

  • Be Fair
  • Look After Each Other
  • Keep Going

...and the children went around and wrote their ideas of how they could to these things in Room 2.

This is what they came up with.

Well, when the photocopier compiles the scans and sends them to me...

Now all we have to do is to sort out these into a list of guidelines that we can all follow.

So far, it's looking very much like our wee Room 2 morning

mantra...

I'm a Respectable, Responsible Room 2 Learner. I live my faith everyday.

I am Responsible. I do my best, I do the right thing, I do what I say and I make things right.

I am Respectful. I am polite, and I treat others the way I would like them to treat me.

I am a Room 2 Learner. I do my best and I keep going, even when it's hard.

I live my Faith. I look after me, I look after you, I look after OLA and all of Room 2.

CU in a bit,

Mr Grant

Ash Wednesday

Good afternoon,

It was nice to see some of you at Mass this morning.

We discussed a bit more about it after lunch this afternoon.

That took a little longer than planned, so...no handwriting which, in turn actually gave us a few spare minutes at the end of the day. Hence the games outside at the end of the day.

Oh, and if your children come out with some odd phrases...blame Chicken Run!

We were reminding ourselves that working together can be a really good thing!

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Jungle Tuesday

Good evening,

This afternoon Room 2 and Room 12 got together after J Team singing, and, after watching and dancing to this...

...we sat down and discussed the whys...

...and hows...

...of playing an imaginative game In Search of Tarzan.

In Search of Tarzan

Which would explain why we were going on a lion hunt in the playground at the end of the day.

Earlier, we did some Maths...

...and some Reading...

...and a good time was had by all!

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant

Chicken Monday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon we had a very quick look at this clip from Chicken Run...

...and commented on what we saw.

Well revisit this later in the week to see how this might related to how we might do things in Room 2.

We also had a quick look at Palm Sunday...

"Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"

...and what that had to do with Palm Sunday.

Kakariki reading group also acted out their text for today. I'll work through the photos and see if I can't turn their story into a photo book for the class.

In the meantime, have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

Funday Friday

Good afternoon,

And so ends our first week.

Today we did some of this...

...some Art...

...and some other stuff.

And a good time was had by all!

Have a great weekend,

Smile, it's Thursday

Good afternoon,

Today we finished much in the same way as we began the day.

Smiling.

That is to say that I took most of the children's photos this morning so's I can add them to our Kei Te Pehea Koe board for the mornings.

I should have it ready for this year's class by Monday (there's a bit of image editing to be done yet...)

Speaking of the board, we used it to discuss the Trinity this afternoon, and hence why we do the Sign of the Cross before and after prayers.

We also did some reading.

And a good time was had by all!

CU tomorrow,

Mr Grant

Oh, and thanks for the offers of help with FROGS, I'll get a roster sorted and we'll start next week.
